Since it has been 6 days since I cannot use the v5 update site, is there a
way of reverting back to v4?

Thanks

It seems to me to have the same problem!
I've same Windows XP Pro SP1 client in a Windows 2003 domain but today I
can't never upgrade my clients by Windows Update feature.
I get this error from
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...ult.aspx?ln=it

0x80072F78.

are you auto update configured correctly? If you want to verify your PC is
setup correctly for auto updates, you can
follow instructions from
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...p/updates.aspx

Or, Let the wizard from website do it for you.
http://protect.microsoft.com/securit...en/default.asp

Alternatively you could download the full install from following link and
install it yourself. Please note the full install download is approx 270 MB
large so for slow connection it would long time
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Otherwise, if you want to wait long for ordering a CD, here's the link.
Please note that CD is not yet available.

None of those suggestions work! Unfortunately. Please, someone, present to us
a solution. The issue is not whether I can get SP2, the issue is that none of
my XP PRO PCS going thru ISA can get to the new V5 site. I can bypass ISA, my
pcs works. But then what is the use of the ISA2K server?

yes. still does not work. Since MS changed to the v5 site, cannot access via
ISA2k server. Vikas, are you trying this on a test machine and it works,
going through the ISA2k server that is.

In the same boat as everyone else trying to use Windows Update, regardless of
SP2. Using LAN with ISA2K and Firewall Clients on all desktops. Have tried
deleting Software Distribution folder contents to no avail. If it is the
case that WU is trying to connect to Internet directly (bypassing ISA/Proxy),
then MS must test that this works for Windows XP Users. Otherwise, they must
revert to V4 WU, until MS has resolution!! Agree??

That is not the issue! Please read the problem, I can download SP2 without
issue. My WINDOWS UPDATE does not work. Period. I am not installing Sp2 as of
yet. Are you saying that the only soluton to this is to install SP2? Sp2 is
not solid as of yet and have had too many problems in testing SP2. I'd prefer
to stay at SP1. V5 does not work through ISA2k.

I too have the same issue. Using ISA proxy server - It turns out after
inspecting the firewall logs (You will only see this in the logs if you are
advertising your firewall as gateway of last resort) that the clients aren't
using the proxy server to connect and they are trying to connect directly to
the win V5 update site - Obviously the firewall is dropping the request as
it's not in its rule base. I still haven't had a fix from Microsoft.

Regards
Matt
