If you were unable to reach
http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm by clicking on the
link or copy/pasting it into IE Address bar, you have more worrisome
problems, CLB.
Here's some of the information on the page:
<paste>
If you are getting error messages, include the exact text in the error
message [e.g., "Stimon Caused an Invalid Page Fault in Kernel32.dll"]. If
there is a "Details" button, click it and copy/paste the error message
itself into the post...
Tell if an error occurs when doing some action or using some particular
software.
What changed in your system shortly before the problem occurred? Knowing
about a setting change or added software or hardware may be helpful in
solving the problem.
Briefly describe your machine [including Windows version], video card, CPU,
amount of RAM, hard drive size and amount of free space.
Identify clearly the steps and procedures you have already used to try to
fix the problem.
</paste>
Most important of the above is stating your Windows version. As your
problem does not appear to be related in any way to Windows Update, you'd be
better off posting to a newsgroup specific to your Windows version (e.g.,
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general; microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion).
If we knew your Windows version, we could point you to a more appropriate
newsgroup for help.
