STOP 0x00000050 after installing KB890859

Does anyone know what is causing this hotfix to crash Win XP? I installed
the hotfix (KB890859) and rebooted to find a BSOD with a STOP 0x00000050
error shortly after it reached the login screen. Rebooting again had the
same result. Went into safe mode and uninstalled KB890859 and here I am...
no problems.
