Alright, so about a week ago my computer randomly shut down and th
dreaded BSOD gave me a visit.

My error message...
STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0x81E5E6E3, 0x805F4BDC, 0x805F4808)

It also mentioned something about "hardware vendors".

I have an Acer Aspire E Series desktop and am running on Windows Vist
Home Premium.

I've tried a million things...
- I've deleted excessive amounts of information thinking I had a
insufficient amount of space on my disk...but I now have more than 30G
free on my first hard drive so that can't be it.
- I've gone through safe mode and scanned my computer with ALL m
software...every single program I own.
- I've serched and repaired everything...disk...regestry.
- I've restored to 5 prior points and it always says that it has no
restored properly....and crashes later.

I DID NOT upload any new updates for over a week...so that can't b
it...and its not because there are critical updates either, becaus
there's only 1 optional update as of recently. I have not added any ne
hardware, and I have not done anything new, that I haven't done
million times before.

Despite my efforts, my computer still crahes with that stupid BSO
approximately 10 minutes after it statrs.

I'm not sure if its a hardware issue, a driver or a BIOS problem.

I'm not a computer whiz by any stretch. I am actually quite th
opposite, so please anything you may have to help me, please put it i
plain english...I can't decipher High Tech computer whiz stuff.

I just don't know what else to do.
PLEASE SOMEONE SAY THEY HAVE A SOLUTION!

Most of my files are backed up, so I'm not to worried about loosin
things, I just want my computer to run properly. I practically live o
it, so PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Hi,

The timing suggests a failing component. You may need to have the system
checked by a techician. If it's under warranty still, contact Acer first,
otherwise find a competent local tech.

0x7E errors can have a multitude of causes, including corrupt system driver
files or a program conflict. Have you gone to the Control Panel/Problem
Reports and Solutions to see if there is any indication of a resolution?

Also, the dump file being created at the time of the stop error may contain
information to indicate where the problem lies. Set it to create a
minidump - aka "small memory dump" (Control Panel/System/Advanced system
properties/startup and recovery options, click settings) and the next time
it occurs, send the minidump file to me at rick at mvps dot org using a
subject line of 'per req'.

Hi gettheFakz

I would suggest that you do a complete system restore or if you have
DVD a fresh install
To do a complete system restore have a look her
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88...ot-options.htm
You need to do steps 1, 2, and 3, and follow the option Repair you
computer to restore your system back to how it was when new
This option is only available if you have a recovery partitio

Your backup files will need to be off of the C Drive preferably on a
external driv

I hope this help

Hi--

I'm not sure how you went about "repairing the registry." Here are 3 things
I'd try that it does not appear from your post that you have done yet::

1) You can restart>tap F8>and try Last Known Good Configuration.

2) You can try Startup Repair if you have the Vista DVD:

How to Use Startup Repair: (Any of the links provide screen shots)
http://www.windowsvista.windowsreins...rtup/index.htm

http://www.vistaclues.com/wp-content...r-computer.png

3)

Here is the MSKB for rebuilding the BCD using very simple quick commands
from the command prompt which you can either reach with by inserting a Vista
DVD or by tapping F8 when you start your pc and at the F8 (Windows Advancd
Options Menu) selecting "Safe Mode with Command"

Using the Bootrec.exe tool to Fix
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392/en-us

You may only have to type these commands--it has helped me to fix a variety
of software no boots consistently:

bootrec /Rebuild BCD
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /Fixboot

Good luck,

CH
