Hi this is a windows 7 help gequest but I can't find a google group
for Windows 7
If you have a url then let me have it.

If you can sort it out it is simply this.
Every few days when I switch on my computer I get a Java update is
available. I have gone to control pannel and removed the tick. If I go
back to controll pannel the tick is back in.

I need to find in the regestry where it is run from and the annoying
file and delete the lot. I don't seem to have any alternatives. When
it is on my PC. I go to task manager and it does not display in
Aplications tab. WHY NOT.

Please help as I am terring my hair out over this one.

TIA

Desmond.

INSTALL THE UPDATE!! There is a REASON it's complaining. These are most
commonly SECURITY updates. By not updating, you are leaving your
computer vulnerable to attack.

******** Just install the bloody update and be done with it!
It is not one bloody update update. It is one bloody update every two
or three days.

This is exessive updating. Why does a Java process not apear in task
manager. Dosn't want to be found?

I read your other replies.

It is not a daily or weekly occurrence. In fact, the number of software updates for
various reasons has gone down since Oracle bought Sun.

You have two options.

1. Disable Updates via the Control Panel Java Applet and remove the Java Update Scheduler
from the HKLM Run key and make sure YOU perform the update which means YOU have to track
when updates are forthcoming.
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

{ However, I fear since you use both Google Groups and AOL I doubt that you are capable of
IA management and you should depend on option #2 }

2. Allow the Java Update Scheduler to perform its duty and whenever it shows that Oracle
has a new version, download and install it ASAP.

Java's control panel applet doesn't work properly with Vista/Win7's
User Account Control security system. It prevents any changes you
make using the Java Control Panel icon.

The workaround is to use Windows Explorer to find javacpl.exe
(location depends on the Java version - mine is in "C:\Program
Files\Java\jre6\bin".) Right-click on the file name and choose "Run
as Administrator" and confirm. Any changes you make in this session
should be saved properly.

You should apply the Java update. It's a security patch.
