How many of you have seen a marked improvement when you increased the amount
of RAM in your computers? I initially downloaded Vista to my computer when
it had 1GB of memory. I recently increased the memory to 3.0GB. Vista runs
much faster and I have not encountered any problems running at 3GB RAM and a
3.0GHz processor.
Did a "clean" install of Windows Vista by following instructions provided by
Andre Da Costa, a member of this newsgroup. (After which, I dual booted the
Ubuntu Linux OS.)
For the Windows Vista OS: I use the Vista firewall. For spyware and other
malware protection I use Microsoft Defender and Spybot Search & Destroy and,
for virus protection I use AVG. I use CCleaner to keep the registry clean.
(Spybot SD, AVG and CCleaner are all free software products and work
effectively and efficiently on a properly configured computer.)
All of this on a Dell XPS 200 sitting behind a Motorola SBG900 Cable Modem
Gateway.
That is my security concept.
