I received a stop error when I was updating windows. I have no idea what to
do. The error message tells me to restart my computer and check for any
updated drivers, the hard drive configuration disable or unistall any
anti-virus and to run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption then
restart my computer. it also gives me the error STOP: 0x00000024,
(0x00190203, 0x084FCE82, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000

Can someone please help me get out of this screen and fix my problem?

Thanks

And your Windows version is...?

0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system
to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical
problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be
corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy
file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some
antivirus software. I suggest running ChkDsk or ScanDisk as a first step;
then disable all file system filters such as virus scanners, firewall
software, or backup utilities. Check the file properties of NTFS.SYS to
ensure it matches the current OS or SP version. Update all disk, tape
backup, CD-ROM, or removable device drivers to the most current versions.

Windows 2003.

I can't get out of the error screen unless I turn of the power from the
tower. How do I bypass this screen and run the following on my computer?

This isn't a problem with Windows Update /per se/, but a hardware or
software problem on your machine.

I am only doing this as a reply because it will not let me start a new thread
or question .....

This is my stop message ....
STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xB141F3E8, 0xB141F0E4, 0x80544CD6)
It tells me to disable/uninstall any anti-virus, disk defrag or backup.....
Then says
to check hard drive configuration and check for updated drivers. It says to
rund CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption but when i tried to do that
my system froze.
There is no NTSF or any file name listed. I am on XP ..... I cannot
uninstall or disable disk defrag since is on computer.

What do I do? Let me know Please

I did a quick Internet check and found this link ...
http://www.updatexp.com/stop-messages.html

* Stop 0x00000024 or NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM

The Stop 0x24 message indicates that a problem occurred within Ntfs.sys, the
driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system
drives. A similar Stop message, 0x23, exists for the file allocation table
(FAT16 or FAT32) file systems. *

There didn't seem to be any quick, easy fixes. Possible hard-drive driver
software, cabling. Two Microsoft links are listed. One about using
PC-Magic folders, the other with rather involved symptoms and resolutions.

This might be a job for your local computer repair shop to fix. :-\
