How to stop loud beep

I'm using Microsoft Money 2004 SB. However, I don't think my problem
is related specifically to MS Money. When I'm in the portfolio view
and click on any area in that view, a loud beep comes out of the
laptop (HP dv9000). It isn't a Windows wav, as I have all Windows and
Money sounds disabled. It's more of a BIOS type of very loud beep.
You can't control the volume on it and I don't know how to turn it off
for this event. This is the only time I hear the loud beep.

Any ideas on what would cause a specific section of a Windows program
to revert to using this loud beep?

I did post in the MS Money group but the suggestions there centered
around disabling or finding Windows wav sounds in control panel. My
machine makes zero beeps except for this one because I have disabled
all Windows sounds.

If you have the sounds all turned off in Vista and Money then it can only be
your laptop. That happens when you get low battery in mine. If not your then

Have you already tried turning the laptop speakers off?

What make is your laptop. Find out the error beep codes from the manufacturer of your laptop

Right-click the Sound icon in the notification area, and choose Playback
Devices. Double-click Speakers, and on the Speakers Properties window,
choose the Levels tab. If it's truly a PC Beep, you can turn down the
volume there (Apply, OK). I wouldn't mute it, just in case you have a
system event that may need your attention.

You can test the volume level by opening Command Prompt. Hold down CTRL,
and then press G on your keyboard. Press Enter.

The problem with this solution is that levels and volume are the same
thing. I usually have the volume near 100% to hear (low quality)
podcast. That's why all of the other sounds are turned off. So, this
strange loud beep is still there.
