Stop NDR sending for certain domains?

Hello!

On my SBS 2003 server, I have it set as the temporary destination of a
client's MX record in order to have a backup MX. My WatchGuard firewall
filters a massive amount of their spam, but they get the NDR-spam sent to
them anyway by my server. I am not quite sure why it is doing this, but I do
need a quick fix.

I want to stop NDRs, but only for their domains, not mine, because my server
ends up sending the spam-NDR to their users. I'll look at a commercial
service in a week or so, but in the mean time, I want to know how to do it.
I **think** I can just add their two domains to my Exchange server's
"Internet Message Formats" domain list, and disable NDRs on those two
domains. Would that work?

I have Googled for hours and can't find the answer.

First of all, what does a peeve look like, and why would anyone want one as
a pet?

Peeve #1: Apostrophes: when in doubt, leave them out! You will be correct
more often than not.

Its = Belonging to it. For example, "Look at the sky. Its color is blue."
It's = It is. For example, "It's hot today."
It's = It has. For example, "It's been nice talking to you."
Its' = completely incorrect usage. Stop it!


Peeve #2: Your vs. You're
"Your" means belonging to you, as in, "It's your truck."
"You're" means "You are." Example, you're probably about ready to throttle
me for this peeve!

Greg,

If you create a domain specific entry under the Global Settings\Internet
Message Format \and then (under the specified domain) clear the check box
for NDR's that might achieve your objective ( if I understand your intent) _
I have this setup on my business SBS so that my clients domains get OOF's,
auto forwards, auto replies, but not delivery reports or NDRs. While I've
test this for OOFs, auto forwards, and auto replies (by design) I have not
tested the NDR functionality - I'm just assuming it is working at this
point. (By default I don't send OOFs or allow auto forwards and auto replies
or NDRs)

For Exchange server 2003, like kj indicated, you can create a new remote domain besides the Default * policy and uncheck the "Allow non-delivery reports" option. Exchange
server will apply the most match domain name first. Please refer to the following explanation from Exchange help document:

Q: "What happens when I add a new domain node to Internet Message Formats?"

A: "A domain node allows you to create a set of guidelines for SMTP to use when sending messages to a specific remote domain. For example, if you have MAPI clients that
send messages to a business partner on a regular basis, you may want to create a policy for SMTP to use when sending messages to your partner's domain. The policy
allows you to specify the format your business partner must use to view your messages. Adding a domain node does not mean that you are creating a new domain in your
organization; you are just creating a new set of SMTP guidelines to use with a remote domain. "

Thank you to all who responded. I had found that section that KJ mentioned,
but as I was heading out on vacation, I just set everything back to the way
it was before. I may go back.
