How to stop SMT5600 connecting to internet on PC sync

WinXP Home/SP2, Activesync 3.7.1, SMT5600, and Ipaq 3850, USB sync with
both.

Both devices sync to my PC fine, but every time I connect the
Smartphone, it causes the PC to dial for an internet connection. The
Ipaq does not.

My intent is for both to be strictly local syncs. I use Outlook 2002,
but do not use it for email, and it has no account set up. I do not use
Avantgo on either device, and "Inbox" is not checked to sync. Sync to
server is not checked.

Anyone have a clue what to look at to stop all this connecting to the
internet when I sync the SMT5600?

Do you have any accounts set up on the Smartphone in Messaging, or any
applications running on it that want Internet access?

I checked Messaging to see. There are no accounts for Text Messages,
Outlook Email, or MMS. I deleted one that was there for Mmode.

I have added an account for email to/from my ISP, and it is set to
"Never" for checking messages.

The only app I've added to the phone is SmartphoneNotes. I don't think
it needs to get on the internet.

I'm out of ideas.
