Stop WLM starting up when i log in!!!!!!!!!

How to stop WLM starting up automatically every time i login

As you may guessed every option is switched off (including the one in
Windows Live Mail)

So how do i stop it?

Just to be clear, you mean logging into Windows is when it's starting? Or something else
(like IE)?

Assuming the former, as a starting point, pop open msconfig (Start, Run if using XP, then
msconfig, then OK), and see if Windows Live Messenger is listed there. If it is, then you'll
need to check again (or maybe turn back on and then turn off for some reason, which actually
shouldn't be required) that the option is off in Messenger's options. Do not just disable it
here as it won't remove it, you cannot disable Messenger's autostart with Windows using
msconfig.

Options are off in WLM and Win Live Mail and msconfig

This has been 'a feature' of messenger far too long (as you must know it's
been a problem since O/Express days) for it to be a bug/ or an accident

MS seem to have an agenda here - so I've uninstalled it which seem to have
solved the problem

Hi,

There's no agenda - if something calls the Messenger API, it will start up. Whether or not
that's good or not can be debated (obviously from a user perspective it's not), but the
Messenger team does love simplifying and excluding options.
