Stopping Automatic SP2 download

In our organization, we have too many 3rd party apps that conflict, so we
want to "halt" the auto installation.

I've attempted to stop the auto installation via SMS & also through profile
maker. I've also attempted to add a registry key via group policy & logon
script.

None of these seem to be working. I would appreciate some ideas.
I've had 5 people download & have resulted in system rebuilds.

To avoid that Windows Updates/Automatic Updates tries to install
SP2 at all (up to 12. April 2005):
