stopping update prompts

I have Updates set to notify me when something is available for download so
that I can check what it is, so that I can decline if I don't want/need a
particular update.

In XP I was then able to request not to be prompted for that update again.

I can't see how to do that with Vista (Home Premium) so I keep getting
prompted every day for ones that I choose not to download.

Is there a way of stopping this?

Many thanks
