Storage Folders as Default?

Sorry folks, Mail Rules difficulties again. Every time one selects to Apply
Now, the default folder to operate upon is ALWAYS Storage Folders, as
opposed to the one most users I suspect utilize, aka Inbox. As a result
there's a bit of mousing about in order to redirect Apply Now to operate
upon Inbox. Is there a setting to be made to change this? It's not under
options.

Thx in advance.

I have 5 Inboxes. Defaulting to one Inbox makes no more difference than
defaulting to Storage folders.

I sort by From. Highlight, right click and move to folder.

I suspect you have multiple email accounts and therefore multiple Inboxes.
So which Inbox should be the "default"? (rhetorical question) Storage
Folders is a logical default value. Use the Browse button to the right to
pick the folder you want the "Apply Now" to operate upon.

Hi, Stephen.

Like Ron and slk759, I share your frustration at having to Browse to the
Inbox (multiple browses to multiple Inboxes) for each Apply Now. But I
don't have to do that very often. After the initial Apply Now for a new
rule, future messages received are Moved to Storage Folders by my Mail Rules
before they ever get to the Inbox(es). So the frustration is usually only
one time for each Rule I create - and I don't create new Rules very often.

(Now, frustration is more likely to come from my picking the WRONG Inbox.
I've been merging and consolidating messages from pre-Win7 and pre-WLM
message stores and OE store folders. So I have multiple Imported Folders -
and each of those includes a full tree of subfolders - and some of those
include sub-sub-folders - and some of those subfolders have carried over
their "Inbox" name. If I'm not careful when Browsing, I will end up telling
WLM to Apply Now to one of THOSE Inboxes. In other words, I will be
browsing to Imported Folder(2)\Inbox, rather than to my MSN Mail\Inbox. WLM
does its job as I've instructed - rather than as I MEANT to instruct.)

And what I asked was, when one performs Apply Now, why does it ALWAYS
default to Storage Folders, instead of my default POP account?

Actually I've been remiss in demonstrating how Mail Rules don't work all the
time, I've got the instance whether or not one selects Stop Processing More
Rules, that old alleged favorite, but haven't done the screen caps
demonstrating the non-functionality.

Storage folders is the default folder. WLM does not remember or store any user selected folder.

His problem isn't even close to yours; which is, I suspect, PEBKAC.

You're arguing again . . . . unproductive. You didn't originally specify
your curiosity in regard to the default email account's Inbox, you simply
asked why Storage Folders was the default instead of "an Inbox"; and we've
told you it is again a case of the developers had to pick one and that's
what they picked. Again, can't please everyone. So stop arguing over mail
rules. We'll help you figure out how to use what we've all been dealt. No
need to run it in the ground . . . . .
