My Vista based comp. is showing me to have 79% free space in my C drive and
only 13% in my D drive. If D fills up will C automatically be used? Can I
control which Drive I wan to use for stoage? Why is everything going into D
drive?

NONE

If your D drive is the recovery partition, nothing should be going in there.
Why do you think that it is?

No.

Yes.

Because your defaults are set there. Whenever you save a file, you are
shown where it will be saved by default. You can either accept that
default or navigate elsewhere if you choose. You apparently need to do
the latter.

Defaults are normally saved, so if you change it once, the new default
will be what you changed it to.

I have two drives, currently C: and D:. Is there any way to map the D: drive so
it appears as a part of C:? For example, saving to a particular folder on C:
actually writes to the D: drive?

You can use Junctions to create a link to D:\ from a folder in C:

The Link Shellextension tool should help you do this easily:

Ken- can you please help me?? I have a laptop with 2 drives. Everything is
saved to the C. It now only has about 9% free space and the D is basically
empty. What folders/files etc should I or can I move to the D drive, without
screwing up how everything runs? Or will it even affect anything? I though
I'd just drag our Documents & Settings to the D.... I dont' want to this up!
thanks to anyone that can help.

Two drives, or two partitions?

How big is each drive or partition?

What do you have on C:? What kinds of files, and roughly how much (in
GB) of each kind?

Answer the questions above first. But in general you can move files
you've created (documents, pictures, music, etc.), but not program
files.
