Is there any way to store the updates I download from Windows update in case
of Hard Drive failure or other catastrophic event. It would be much faster
to load all the Service Packs and Updates from a DVD or two than to wait for
all of them to download again.

Service Packs can also be ordered free from Microsoft, Windows XP SP-2 also
step 1 on this link.
