Where is stored the MSI of Windows Live Mail installer ?

Hi,

I would like to install Windows Live Mail on my Windows 2008 Server (I
have an MSDN account and I am using it "as a desktop" for testing
purpose).

My problem is that WLinstall.exe is not working on Windows 2008 so I
need to find the MSI file used for the installation on a Windows XP
computer for example and to use it for my 2008 server.

I have already done that before but I need to update my Windows Live
Mail now (for a bug correction).

So, from a Windows XP (with no Windws Live mail already installed), I
have downloaded the WLinstall.exe but I am not able to find the MSI
file of Windows Live Mail downloaded by this exefile.
I have opened the "C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\Inst all"
folder but I didn't find anything interesting.

Please could you help me to find a way to install the latests Windows
Live Mail on my 2008 server ?

Thanks a lot

Thank you for your answer.

In the specified folder, I have a file named
"Install_{C514C594-23AA-4F13-A070-DB8BDB27594F}.msi" (14 112Ko).

It is the right file for Windows XP (or it seems to be as when I double
clicked on it, it has reinstalled LiveMail on the XP box) BUT this file
has installed Windows Mail 6.0.6000 (vista_rtm) on my Windows 2008; so,
not the right version.

I don't know how I can force my XP SP2 to download the "right" msi
file...

Thanks

This doesn't seem likely. Look at the file's property sheet >
Summary - this should tell you what it is. The GUID will probably
vary according to language version - mine is precisely as given on
the blog page I referred you to. Isn't Windows Mail built-in to
Vista and thus uninstallable?
See also http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946520/en-us which might
apply to you.

See

Windows 2008 is not supported. Even if you could get the installer
files, it likely won't work.

32-bit XP SP2+ and Vista are the only versions of Windows that it runs
on. Some people have tried to install on other versions of Windows and
failed.

I don't think that situation is possible.
Windows Mail, included with Vista, does not place an msi file into the hidden protected 'Windows LiveInstaller' folder noted in the
link posted earlier. The msi file for WLM is 12,733 kb.

You cannot force the WLM msi file to be downloaded. It is placed in the LiveInstaller folder by downloading the stand-alone Windows
Live Installer and choosing the option to install WLM(during the install process, the msi is downloaded to the LiveInstaller
folder, once complete it is used to install WLM)
