Strange Activesync Install Failure

I just got my dell x30 yesterday and my primary windows XP pro machine will
not successfully install either Activesync v3.7 or v3.8. When I launch the
install program (MSASYNC.EXE) it decompress the files and copies them to the
temp directory, but then it just ends. Throws no errors at all and the setup
processes just sit in memory and do nothing.

As if this isn't strange enough, I'm able to install it on another WinXP pro
machine without issue - though it doesn't help me use the x30...

I've tried:
Uninstalling virus and spyware scanners
Trying in safe mode
Uninstalling all 4 registry entries and giving it another spin
Rebooting and trying to manually launch from %temp%
Clearing %temp% and starting again

And, I think I've done all those in every possible combination over the last
7 hours...

I have no where else to turn please help.

Hi Hubis,

You could try installing it under Safe Mode with networking.. see if that
helps. Otherwise try the suggestions on the following site:
