Not draconian at all. Same procedure as when you install the product or
install the os and it initially finds the device. If you have installed any
programs that control the DVD, especially for writing, you may have a
conflict causing your problem

Rather Dracoian approach?! Tried it it didn't work. The problem seems to
be that when ever I access the disk in the DVD player the system seems to
lock up, and the only way they'll unlocking it is to open the drive.
I know the drive is good for I have no problem writing to the DVD at other
times. Only when I did a right-click send to on an ISO image to I run into
this problem...
