Strange "nesting" effect in Microsoft Update

Whenever I run Microsoft Update, I choose Custom because I like to see what
optional updates are available. Lately, whenever I try and click on any link
other than Review and Install updates, Microsoft Update starts over, nested
inside the already open window. After that, it freezes.
I'm using XP pro and IE7.

I can install critical updates fine, but it won't let me access anything else.
