ok so i bought a quad core with 4 gig of ram, installed vista ultimate
64 bit, patched it ( kb929777 ) and put the other 2 x 1 gig of ram in,
after i patch it, the pc wont turn off, windows shuts down but the pc
wont turn off!!!,

so anyways i reformatted, ( left it with 2 gig in ) and it still
wouldnt shut down, so i took it to my mates, used his keyboard mouse and
hdmi masive Tv and it shuts down, so i brought the pc home, and it shut
down fine, then i tried to install the kb929777 so i could have 4 gig of
ram, and the pc wont shut down now ?? i have to take the lead out the
back?? im so frustrated

Check the options in your BIOS thats where the issue can be!

Some machines are odd with shutdowns, you say it worked at your mate's
house but did you try it again at home "Before" doing anything else?

I would say that this problem seems to have cropped up with "Vista" but
in fact I've seen it lots of times, sometimes they won't shut down,
sometimes they will but then restart Changing the BIOS works in some
cases, not others, so you may have to be prepared to "Live with it". I
would rather leave it on all day though than pull the plug.

Sorry this is not much help but if you can figure out if something like
the different keyboard is what made the difference you may have a
solution for other folks as well.

Good luck
