strange update problem

Hi,

I am using a Panasonic CF-W2 notebook with XP SP1 installed. I have the SP2
blocker installed so it will receive any update for SP2. The problem is,
when I try to do either Windows Update or Office Update, all I get is a
blank page, no errors or anything. I have done virus checks, spyware/adware
checks, scandisk, etc on the computer. It will not access the update sites.
If I use windows automatic update, that works. I think there might be a
problem with IE, but can`t confirm that yet. Any suggestions is
appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, you could try

Register JSCRIPT.DLL
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 jscript.dll
Click OK.

What is SP2 blocker and what does it do? Sounds like to me a SP2 download blocker, or is mistakenly
named. (;= )

Please test your assumption with View Source.
This symptom could also be explained by having
META Refresh
disabled in your Security settings.

If that is the cause you don't need to change the setting
provided you are prepared to use the source to figure out
what URL to copy into your Address bar in order to allow
the redirect to occur.

how can it happen all of a sudden in a station where it used to work is a
mistery to me... but it is the case here...
