when I signed into messenger a few minutes ago I got a welcome to windows
live messenger screen with something that said September 2008 and had a bunch
of things in another language on the right side. this is the first time I
have encountered something like this what is causing it and has anyone else
been getting this?

Greetings,

I haven't noticed any date on the welcome screen, but I may have just missed it. It's normal
to see these every so often (it's a "feature").

There's been a new batch of them since the forced upgrade started with 8.1 users.

yeah I get some of those screens every once in a while but the reason this
stood out at me was the way it came up. like I said with the september 2008
date but the writing on the side looked like it was maybe possibly russian.
but that isn't the strangest thing. the strangest thing was the way
everything was piled on top of each other.

was able to uncheck it again.

Hi,

You have the oddest problems

I have no idea why the option would disappear, never seen that before. As for your
Russian-ish welcome screen, maybe someone at Microsoft's end had something misconfigured just
as the time your client requested the screen to come up. Worthy of a screenshot if it
happens again though.

lol yeah I know I usualy do have the strangest problems. the way it came up
is what raised an alarm flag to me but the system is clean of viruses so who
knows...if it had been the typical screens that come up like a profile or
photo sharing thing it wouldn't have been alarming...
