Windows update is stuck at 0% on a Windows 98SE PC. Here is the log file:

Update ran fine previously until I tried to install Norton Internet Security
2004. Had trouble with NIS running properly so I uninstalled it. Then IE
wasn't bringing up web pages properly so I then ran a repair on it through
add/remove. IE now displays web pages properly but doesn't run WinUpdate.
Help!

norton hosed your system

run scanreg /restore and see if you can bring the registry back to a date
*prior* to installing norton

> There has been too many changes to the registry since that time. I suspect corrupted system files more so than registry errors. I ran WinDoctor already to clean up any errors uninstalling NIS might have caused. Thanks anyway.
