Stuck at Windows update lookin for available updates

I have installed the v5 of WU and installed some updates and now I have my
auto update is on and it shows me a list of updates available and when i
click to download it,the window minimizes but the download dosent happen but
when i double click on the auto update icon,the window opens but the list of
updates is blank,with nothing inside.I have tried to update through the
website but it gets stuck at the scanning as it keeps showin...Windows Update
is looking for available updates...and nothing happens...I have even tried it
with and without the xp firewall of my network connection.
any help would b really appreciated.

I am having a similar problem here.
When I try to access Windows Update, it stays looking for an update and
nothing happens.

BTW, I am using the Windows XP Home SP2...

Any Help??????

I am thinkong this is an issue with v5.windows update, but just to make it
more helpfull, you cant roll it back to v4!!
I have had this and am desperate to sort it as i am in a team that will be
rolling out around 2500 XP machines so we need to kill this now!!!!

Well.. I just figured out that uninstalling .Net 1.1 Windows Update begin to
work again... reinstalling .Net 1..1 it stop again....

I tested a system some days ago that was working and today it has the same
problem. Definitely I think that the Windows Update has a problem (I searched
the error code on google and seens that several people has teh same problem
since yesteday).
