I've checked the tutorials (very very good by the way) and I can't find
an answer.
When I boot up my P.C. the desktop is not Aero although this is the
setting that I gave it.
After boot up I have to set it again manually which is a pain. It maybe
I am being fussy as the only noticable difference is the icon size and
font but it's enougfh to keep me awake.
Any help ??

What kind of video card do you have?
If your video card is on the motherboard you may not have enough horsepower
to run Aero.
You are not missing much.

Video card is a PNY GeForce 6200 which all I've read says it runs Vista.
Thanks for that Paul. I've applied script 22.
I'll see how I get on.

No, there simply isn't enough advantage in using Vista to justify the time
and expense of implementing it.

Especially when 80% of users say, why did you do THAT to me??!!??

Exactly so, XP is working fine on the hardware they have and Vista would
be a double expense for many people. It is not just the hardware for
graphics etc, but lack of drivers for things like network hardware.

Whilst much of this is not Microsoft's fault it is still a factor and an
increased cost.

Add to this the cost of re-educating users because things got "Switched
around" and you have a problem you don't need. Had there been some kind
of "Looks just like XP" user interface option things might have gone a
lot different, although networking compatibility would still have been
an issue.

Unfortunately there are still many who have stick up notes saying "Press
this, click on that" and don't really understand the underlying actions
behind their normal job activity, anyone having to do user support would
be inundated. Again, not Microsoft's fault per-se, but still an issue.

Aero is a pig. Leave it off.

As for icon size, point at any desktop icon, hold down the control
key, and roll the mouse wheel.
