STy files

Have a lot of STY files on CD disk that I transfer to my Yamaha pro keyboard
via floppy disk.Problem is Windows Media player won't play them saying codec
may be wrong.
I have asocciated this file with WMP but it still will not open.
It did under XP,not that much of a problem but I like to hear the sounds
before I transfer them to the instrument.
Any ideas? cheers.

Personally I have used this with no problems. You can uninstall if it
doesn't help or causes you any problems as an MS employee suggests here.
His approach seems to be if MS doesn't supply the codec don't listen to the
file. You might check to see if you installed a codec package in XP and use
the same supplier's file.
