After reading all the "doom and gloom" messages on this
bulletin board I was very leary about installing SP2. I
spent hours reading all the negative comments and SP2
documentation (recovery procedures, etc.)on the Microsoft
Web site. I finally decided to bite the bullet and
install SP2 (after doing a complete backup of my hard
disk).

Let me tell you. It went like a charm. It took about 23
minutes to do the install. When Windows restarted the
new Security Center screen came up. I had to tell it
that I have my own antivirus and firewall programs
(Norton). I then tested quite a few apps (IE, Outlook
Express, etc.). I then turned the PC off to let it do a
complete re-boot. It came up with no problems whatsoever.

So, just thought I would let you all know that not
everyone has problems with SP2. I wish whoever else has
doubts will have as good luck as I have had. By the way,
I have a Compaq Presario 2580US notebook PC and I have
been applying critical updates as they come out.

i decided to take the chance and install sp2 also. it
took me 9 hours to download the sp2 from the windows
update site. right after it finish downloading, i
immeadiately disconnected from the internet. i then turn
off my ZApro and disable the firewall from starting when
windows start. then i disable my norton av. i also
disable the ICF. then the sp2 wizard start and i click
install and it took a while to install since it had to
check the configuation, backup files, and other stuff.
after in finish installing, i click restart now and it
restart without any problem.

after restarting, the security center pops up and tell me
my av is critical. so i turn it on and told it to let me
monitor it since it is norton av 2002.

Then i shut down my comp and wait 10 min and then turn it
back on again and it seems to log on faster. it seems
okay to me so far. i am using a toshiba laptop and
nothing bad happen so far so i am gald i install sp2.
