Suddenly the day before yesterday, the display of graphics in Windows
Explorer changed from miniature pictures to the graphics program default
icon. This happened to me in 98 and I had a fixpix.vbs fix for reactivating
the thumbnail function. I think I also used it in XP, but I hesitate to try
this in Vista. What must I do to get the thumbnails back?

Thanks, John

Yes. I saw this recommendation elsewhere in the group. My problem is not one
of association. The files are correctly associated, unless a new meaning for
the term has been introduced in Vista. When I click on the file (icon) it
opens in my graphics program, which is the desired response.

The problem I tried to describe is that no THUMBNAILS appear in Windows
Explorer, only the correct default icon for the graphics program. I can no
longer see the pictures, only the program icon. I know there was a fix for
this in 95 / 98 / XP. How do I fix it in Vista?

OK...I thought the association fix was worth a try.

Maybe the following article would be worth a look:

Anyway...the link below offers the contents
of a .reg file...copy/paste all the Red text into
Notepad and save it as:
thumbs.reg
Run it by left clicking it.

FWIW...you might want to create a system
restore point and back up your registry
before proceeding....

That did it. No need to invade the registry (shudder!), just uncheck "Always
show icons ....".
Many Thanks. Rufus

Excellent! I'm glad it worked for you.

You're welcome and thanks for the update.

John,

This is embarrassing. I thought that I'd sent a reply and thankyou. Now that
I check the notes, I see that it's not there. In short, I checked the folder
settings and unchecked the item preventing display of graphics. All's well
.... and I'm really apologetic that the thankyou didn't get added.
