Why do you even think of making a product that isn't more powerful, more
advanced and more useful than all other previous IM's !?

Why not improve the file transfers...... ability to resume broken
transfers....
the history function in icq is beautiful... or the ability to transfer
multiple files...

And what's the deal with the "appear offline" ability`?!?!? embarrising.
I used ICQ in 1996 and was able to choose wich user i wanted to appear
online to or invicible or "brb" and so on....

And the list goes on....

Why don't you compare yourself against others and try to TOP THAT!

Some competitors keep it simple and clear, and with very interesting features.

For example, with Google Talk, the conversation logs are stored online in
your gmail account. That's great because, doesn't matter what computer you
use, you always have your log available to search on it. That's easy, take
few space (since I use messenger in 2003, my logs are only 30 Mb). It would
be very useful when we use webmessenger, or messenger on a cell-phone ...

Most of the people use at least 2 computers : one at home, on at office.
That's very bad when you start a conversation at office (end of the day ;-)
and when you come back home, half of the log is missing because it's on your
professional computer.
