Is SuperAntispyware Legitimate Software?

Hi,

Based upon a post in a newsgroup, I downloaded SuperAntispyware. When I
tried to download its updates, my firewall (Windows Vista) seems to have
blocked the updates, per an on-screen message.

I am wondering if this is legitimate software, or if the firewall is
trying to block a rogue program that might harm my PC.

Any input will be appreciated.

SuperAntispyware is legitimate, not rogue. And I have no trouble
downloading updates for it here.

Did you download it from http://www.superantispyware.com/ ?

If not, the file may have been tampered with.

Hi,

Thanks for the helpful replies. I uninstalled my old superantispyware,
and newly installed the free edition from Richard's suggested URL.
Again, I could not get new definitions or updates, and got an on-screen
message that there was an error, and perhaps my firewall is preventing
superantispyware.exe from getting through. (I'm running Vista Home
Premium and SeaMonkey, but the same thing happened when Firefox is on.)I
have no clue as to how I can correct this situation.
Thanks again,

Morton

P.S. My newly downloaded Superantispyware will not open at all; not with
the shortcut, and not under programs. It is frustrating.

SuperAntispyware is a very reputable and good anti-spyware applicatio
and there is a support forum 'HERE
(http://forums.superantispyware.com/). I would respectfully sugges
that perhaps there is something else causing your problems

It is NOT an AV programme, I would have thought that the name of SAS
was explanatory.

Hi,

Thanks for the further comments. S.A.S. is of course about stopping
spyware, not antivirus.

Thank you, ex-Brit for the forum link, which I will look into.

I can't wait until Windows 7 is finally ready, as Vista Home Premium is
absolutely dreadful, a step (or many steps) backwards from XP.

Thanks again.

Sorry to see you have problems with Vista Home Premium, especially in
connection with SAS. I installed and am running the program without any
trouble whatsoever.
When you first posted, it seemed as if you were having firewall rejection,
but that is now overshadowed by more serious issues, possibly 'infection'.
Most unlikely your difficulties are caused by the OS.
From my perspective WinVista H/P works just fine for the John Doe-user, if
handled properly.

Harry.
