Hi Good Day,

I just found out that Microsoft will be discontinuing support for WSUS 2.0
with SP1 on April 30th 2009
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/wsus/bb466202.aspx).

Does this mean WSUS will no longer be able to download updates after April?

Or it will be able to download updates, but I will not get any technical
support if something isn't working?

Best Regards,
Ken

I believe the answer lies in the very article you quoted.

"Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS 2.0) is no longer supported.
In order to continue to qualify for support, you must upgrade to WSUS 2.0
with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or WSUS 3.0 SP1. Microsoft will discontinue
support for WSUS 2.0 with SP1 on April 30, 2009. Even though support for
WSUS with SP1 will end, we will still support its ability to distribute WSUS
3.0 SP1, so it can be used to update itself to the newest version of the
server.

We recommend that you upgrade to WSUS 3.0 SP1, which supports updating a
broader set of Microsoft products and provides more robust management and
reporting features. WSUS 3.0 SP1 can be installed as an in-place upgrade on
top of WSUS 2.0, preserving your existing information."

My guess is that this sentence:
"Even though support for WSUS with SP1 will end, we will still support its
ability to distribute WSUS 3.0 SP1, so it can be used to update itself to
the newest version of the server."

Would mean that the ONLY update that it will get/distribute is the one for
itself.
Is there some reason you are still running that product versus the 3.x
series?
