When one tries to copy a folder, Vista start calculating time it takes to
copy, but nothing is transfer in the mean time.
How to suppress that calc process?

It is really annoying to see vista spend in excess of 5 minute to find how
long to copy but without copying a single bit.

is there such thing as multi-thread programming and provide as estimate as
it goes?

There's a hotfix available for that problem, but I'm sorry that I no longer
have the link. DAGS and you might find it. You have to phone MS and they'll
email the fix to you. Possibly it's in the reliability and performance
update, but I don't know that for sure.

The problem is not that it's trying to calculate the time needed to copy,
move, or delete a file or folder but a matter of ownership and permission
regarding the file or folder you're trying to modify. Go to this link to
find out how to do this:

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67...ship-file.html

If the file or folder you're trying to modify is a Junction Point or Reparse
Point (see discussion on the link above), it is not a modifiable area on the
disk and you will not be able to do anything with it other than access it.
Also, note that sometimes you have to modify the files in a folder before you
can modify the folder. Good luck!
