Suprised by lack of support for Windows DVD Maker

One of the nice features of Windows Vista is Windows DVD Maker. If you look
at your discusstion group and search for Windows DVD Maker you will find the
countless postings we've been posting all year about DVD Maker getting to
almost near 99% completion then stops working. I'm not alone, there are
hundreds of posts all saying the exact same thing. If when support answers
one of these posts, they point us to a website for Windows Media Player
support. Why isn't Microsoft addressing this very important problem which
seems to be plaguing everyone who tries to burn DVDs with Windows DVD Maker.
As a last resort they come to this discussion and everyone is posting the
same problem over and over but Microsoft is doing nothing to fix the problem.

This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the
suggestions with the most votes. To vote for this suggestion, click the "I
Agree" button in the message pane. If you do not see the button, follow this

click "I Agree" in the message pane.

http://www.google.com.jm/search?hl=e...er&btnG=Search

Its well discussed and supported.

Did you actually read my complain or are you just being sarcastic? Of course
we've all seen the DVD Maker page as part of the Vista features. What I
wrote about is a problem that so many users who have taken the time and
energy to find this forum have reported...so many of us have this same
ongoing issue and Microsoft has done nothing to address it except for give us
links to usless information about Windows Movie Maker, Windows Media Player
and now the Windows DVD Maker feature page. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS
SOFTWARE IN WHICH MANY USERS GET TO 99% COMPLETION AND IT FAILS WITH NO
REASON OR ERROR CODE!

Part of what you seem to have missed is the newsgroup Andre gave.
That is more appropriate for your issues than this general newsgroup.

Your questions will be better answered in that newsgroup since it is
intended for "music_pictures_video".

My apologies as the link Andre entered was not a link..I thought it was some
area Andre worked for. The links that did work were the Windows DVD Maker
page on the Microsoft site and a google search...both of which had nothing to
do with my problem.

In any event, I went to that newsgroup and it's more of the same. People
getting to 99% completion and the DVD being spit out uncompleted. Ironically
enough (or not so ironic), no one from MSFT has answered those postings
either. Why does an end user have to be a technician, look for support,
register for a news group, post for help and hope for a response over the
course of months to get this "Amazing new Windows Vista" feature to burn a
DVD??? If you ask me, right out of the box this should work 100% for
everyone...Vista is too expensive to just be a flashier version of XP only
with more compatibility issues. Thanks for letting me vent....I'm not
happy..perhaps MAC was the way to go afterall.

This isn't a support channel. Did something make you think it was? That
would be a tragic misunderstanding. Official support channels:
http://zachd.com/pss/pss.html#psssupport
are where you want to go for help. This is just a peer-based discusion
community. =\

Your wording may be confusing to some.
The newsgroups are one of the sources people are directed for support.
However there is no requirement or expectation that any Microsoft
employees see or respond to any post in these peer to peer newsgroups.
Microsoft employees occasionally post, but then they do so on their
own time.

I just don't want anybody to be confused and think this is an *official*
support channel, since that seems the road to heartbreak. If any MS
documents make it seem like it is, I'd like to get this fixed up so that
everybody has maybe appropriate expectations coming in.

What you and others do here is awesome. Thank you to everybody making
positive contributions here.
