SUS Client Update

Can I direct a client PC over the internet to get an approved update from my
SUS server. I already know about editing the registry to create the WUServer
and WUStatusServer locations. Are there any special changes required on the
server side to allow a non-active directory client to obtain updates from
SUS. The client recieves the notice of updates but will not get them from
SUS. I am running SBS 2003 and Software Update Service (SUS1.1)
