Suspend question

Have a dual boot system with vista and xp -- and use suspend in evening
with a restart in morning. Quick way to restart where you were with
less usage on unit. With XP fan shuts down while with vista fan shut
down does not work. In fact seems to be a much less complete shutdown.
Is there a way to have vista work as XP in suspend mode? Thanks.
