every time this message appears it has the time stamp from when i last closed
down my pc. I don't get this message ALL the time but alot of the time. the
only thing Dl'ed recently have been windows updates etc.... this error
doesn't seem to effect anything i do. i can do my normal routines on my pc
wothout a prob....

but any further info and if anyone else is having this prob please help me
...

I have the exact same problem.
It seems as if I reboot a few times it comes right.
I would also like to know the cure for this problem

Same minor problem. No effect on computer stability. Just curious what caused
it.

XP Pro, SP2

More info. Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer,
Application. Here's the error's log entry:

Faulting application svchost.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.

This sounds like a browser hijacking/redirect issue to me. Are any of you
running an Anti-Spyware/Malware program such as: Spyware Blaster, Microsoft
Anti-Spyware, and Ad-Aware?

You need to be running all three of these at the same time IMO. I hear that
Spybot is also a great product, but have no user experience with it.

Download Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.com and see what it picks up on it's
first run. Then take two aspirin and call me in the morning when you come up
with 200 Malware listings. :-(

I regularly by regularly run all see the programme you mention as well as spy
doctor. It would appear that problem relates to my soundcard drivers which I
reinstalled numerous times. As I has previously said, if I power off and
restart a few times it always "repairs itself" and all works well; but it
does remain a nuisance and I would like to permanently get rid of the error

I have receiving this off and on since I had problems with a lan connection.
Is there a fix for this. I am new to this. I run ad aware and spy bot all the
time. Please give instructions to fix this problem. Thanks

now that I think about that, it seems it started for me as well after having
a connection problem with my router. I now have a new router, but
occasionally still get the problem when I reboot. I have discovered that if I
shut down completely rather than reboot, the problem of occurs less
frequently. In my case is always the on board sound card that seems to be the
origin of the problem. I have a Pentium 4 with integrated sound and when it
appears that the SVC host application fails to start, it appears as if I have
no sound installed. Anyone else have a similar problem?

I have been having exactly the same problem as Julsie. Somehow the error is
related to recent issues with my wireless router and I often lose all sound
on my computer. Does anyone know of a fix???

What I did and it seems to have worked so far is I ran Ad-aware and Spy Bot
and then did a clean program. It seems to have worked and so far the message
has not come back. Cross fingers. Everything so far is fine. It seems the
Lan connection had something to do with it and when I got in touch with
sympatico and they told me how to stop the error message oin the tool box E
on the computer screens. Try this it may help
