Hi Everyone,

Just been reading through all of the suggestions on here, and it seems to be
a problem when Office is installed and being updated too, which is very odd.

Now there is one problem, I work in an office where there are around 100
PC's, and I can't go round turning Windows Update to only get the Windows
ones, not the office ones. We use the WSUS tool, do you think if I turn the
Office ones off, this will have the same effect?

Many thanks,
Michael

Hi !

I tried to solve the problem by turning off deploying all Office Updates
from the WSUS-Server with no effect. Thats not teh solution.

I have redeployed WSUS without selecting Office updates from detection. I
tested only on one machine and successfully. On Monday morning I think I
will try this on more machines. Till then we will have disabled AU service
on desktop machines.

Hey, okay, i only stopped deploying, not detecting. If this is a solution,
please post your results from your test this morning.

I found the answer in the microsoft forums: an MVP moved it to the top but I
want to make sure you find it too!

i turned off automatic updates: restarted: went to
windowsupdate.microsoft.com choose CHANGE SETTINGS and at the bottom GET OFF
MICROSOFT UPDATE; CHOOSE Windows update (the old way)

do your updates that way till you're fully patched.

(at the time of this posting: i haven't turned automatic updates back on:
but background intelligent updater service is on)

please try this and if you find a solution that works for you: please post
it back to the forums! it really helps all of us!
