svchost.exe automatic update error

I am periodically receiving this svchost.exe error and now through disabling
automatic updates, ren-enabling automatic updates and so forth, I can bypass
the error. Is there yet a fix for this error? I know it will reappear in a
few days.

Which svchost error are you seeing? If you're seeing Event ID 1000
"Faulting application svchost.exe" the msi.dll hotfix WindowsXP-
KB927891-v2-x86-ENU (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
familyid=7A81B0CD-A0B9-497E-8A89-404327772E5A&displaylang=en) should
clear it up.
