I've having this same issue with few workstations in here.
I've read a lot on this problem and all fixes that I've come through aren't
working.
Yes, those computers of mine are rather old and on the very first try it
went down to 60-80% instead of a full 90-100%. The next day (22hrs) it went
back as usual and lock pretty much the user. Of course we are using WSUS 2
and yet, we cant configure when those computers should start to scan for
updates.
If I let the MU instead of WU, the comp scan just like for hours, that if I
go on the web site. So the option has been disabled and simply keep scanning
for windows update.
Anyhow, is there more than "see kb927891" as a solution?
Right now its a disable automatic updates. On weekend we start it up and
shut it down again on monday.
