Hi there,

On the desktop right click my computer, choose properties and than the tab
automatic updates. Mark the checkbox turn of automatic updates and click OK.

Finished

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Start | Settings | ControlPanel | Administrative Tools, click Services,
right click Automatic Updates, click Properties, in Startup type drop-down
menu select 'Disabled', click OK and you're done.

hey there, i am dial-up too and have been trying to download SP1 for Office
2007 using Windows Automatic Update. it is so large (like 30+ hours) that my
isp always shuts me down sometime during the d/l process and when i log back
on, the download status bar never resumes. the furthest i've ever made it is
45%. when i restart it it begins at 0% again.

anyway, i noticed the line, "Pause or Resume Downloading" below and got very
excited. however, my download icon doesn't have a pause or resume button.
it has the two greyed options, "Open" and "Open Folder, and Cancel. what am
i missing?

Hi there,

What you are missing is called a download manager which can resume downloads
on sites that support this.

Something like Flashget, download accelerator etc. will do.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

Helllo PA Bear,

LOL.................you sound a little bit like Adrian Monk: I could be
wrong now? But I don't think so : its a jungle out there .

Who is talking but automatic updates: not me for sure I was born with a
tiny bit of brain lol knowing a downloadmanger does not work on win auto
upd..

just download it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
and use the previous given solution: problem solved

Have a nice day.
