Switching to mirrored desktop

Can someone please help. i have an acer laptop and acer tv When I connect to
two monitors I get extended desktop on my tv monitor instead of mirrored
monitor I have the wallpaper and cab drag things over but I just want it to
be the same has on my laptop. I have tried reinstalling the new monitor has
rhe default is sopposed to be mirrored. but when I plug it in and choose
moniter two its extended again Vista doesnt recogbise the new monitor so I
dont get any choices
