symantec removed, vista still thinks it's there

Vista won't install if Norton Symantec (of any sort... PC Anywhere, Norton
Security etc) is on the system. So I removed it all, but during install's
discovery phase, it kicks back at me and says it still needs to be removed.

Is there a command-line install switch that will tell Vista to install
anyway? Or do I need to run one of those Symantec utilities that seeks out
and destroys any remaining files of theirs on the computer?

Mike,

I have had Symantec's stuff do the same exact thing. Uninstall it, yet
little tendrils of it still remain. I would HIGHLY recommend getting the
Symantec removal tools. Not sure what version you are running but here is a
good start:
