I am mad as hell!

In "Windows Mobile Device Center" in "Managing a Partnership", there are
only two choices: Replace Items on Device or Replace Items on Desktop!

WHERE IS "ASK ME"??!!!???

I lost a ton Outlook Note information thanks to the idiot that decided it
was no longer important to ask me what to do!!!!!!

It would even be acceptable if it would simply go with whatever is newer!!
It won't even do that!!!

THANKS A LOT FOR NOTHING!

If Notes would update over the air like Email, Contacts, etc., THAT would be
even BETTER!

WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK???!!!???

Sorry you are upset, but most of us have gotten over this since it changed
over 2 years ago with AS 4.x. You are right, "Ask" is gone and it
sucks,but...recognize that the conflict resolution only happened/happens
when something in the same data item, calender entry, contact, note, etc. is
changed on both the PC and the mobile device between syncs. That means you
changed added a mobile # to Bob Johnson's contact info on your mobile, got
back home or to the office and changed Bob Johnson's address on the PC,
before syncing. Don't do that. Either make all of your changes on the PC
while the mobile is connected, or sync before leaving, and if you make
changes while you are out, hook it up when you get back. It really isn't
hard to keep conflicts from happening in the first place.

So, how did you lose a ton of notes info? For a conflict to have occured,
you would have had to change the content of the same note on both your
device and your PC. To lose a ton, you would have needed to do this on a ton
of notes. As an FYI, deletions take precedent over everything, regardless of
how the conflict resolution is, or was, set. If you delete on one device and
change on the other, the data item is gone at the next sync. No question.

Do you do backups? You make it sound like you use Exchange, commenting on
the wireless sync for all but notes. Are the exchange folders backed up?
While the notes don't sync wirelessly to the device, they are stored in
Exchange.

Actually, it would be easy to have notes or other files overwritten if any of
them are in a filesystem that is "made availalbe offline" from a Windows
Server.

For reasons that are not obvious to me, a "synch" of offline files between a
Server and another Windows computer effectively "touches" all the files and
fools both Active Synch and the Mindows Mobile Device Center into thinking
the file has been changes when it has not.

For example, if a note document is both on a server filesystem mounted as Z:
and then made available offline, and also on the mobile device, then when
synching the file on the workstation will nearly always be treated as having
been changed. If you change it on the mobile device, then there is a
conflict.

I lost a whole trip of notes and expense data that way when I first got
Windows 7 and lost good old Avtive Synch.

I think made a thoughtless mistake by removing manual conflict resolution.
Apple is looking better and better.

Probably right there, but I thought we were talking about Notes, as in
Outlook Notes. Didn't think those were accessible from the file system, or
in a mountable drive. I get that you can get into trouble with files that
are sync'd, but server sync doesn't support those. Maybe the OP was talking
about notes, generically, as in 'I took some notes', but I took it as
referring to Outlook Notes. Seems he just came to shout though.
