Trying to sync my Dell Axim x230 PPC that runs Windows 2003 Second Edition to
my new Dell desktop running Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2003 has run into
a variety of seemingly related problems.
Even though I have downloaded and installed Windows Mobile Device
Center it seems to be in conflict with a version of Microsoft ActiveSync
which was transferred from my old PC during a mass move operation. I have
tried to delete Activesync but the system won’t allow it.
When I click on the Sync Center in Control Panel there is a selection
for setting up a partnership but it doesn’t respond.
I can use Windows explorer on my desktop and see the files on my PPC
but I cannot initiate a sync operation.
I keep getting messages that Outlook is not my default mail program but
when I tell it to make it the default it keeps coming back at some point with
the same message and I have to click yes again so I can retrieve my email.
Where do I start to clear up this situation?
