Synch problem with Outlook 2003

I have just had my PC upgraded to Outlook 2003. I synch with a handheld PC
using MS ActiveSync. After the new Outlook installation, the synch is
reporting 4 unresolved Calendar items. Each of the problem Calendar items
involves an employee that has now left the company ,and I assume no longer
exists on the Exchange Server. 3 instances involve the same person. For
both the “problem” contacts there are many other Calendar items that do not
give the same problem. Following the “Resolve Items” option from the
ActiveSync window leads to a dialog box titled “Check Names”. This states
“MS Office Outlook does not recognise firstname surname” Taking the option
“New Contact” creates a contact for the “missing” name, but this still does
not allow a successful synch.

Can anyone suggest a solution, or a path towards one ?

MS Outlook 2003 SP3
MS ActiveSync 3.7.1
MS Windows 2000 5.00.2195 SP4

TIA
John.

I have a similar problem on my IPAQ, using MS Activesync to sync between
device and desktop.
I deleted three contacts, and deleted all meetings they may have been
invited to. I searched the entire device, searched all databases, etc for the
names, events, and cannot find anything related. I also searched the desktop
that I am synching to and cannot find the info in outlook anywhere there
either. The error's revolve around 3 birthday reminders, however there were
never birthday's entered for the 3 contacts (regardless, the recorrds have
been deleted).
Each time I sync my decice, I get 3 unresolved calendar items. When I try
to resolve, I get a notification :

The following recurring event cannot be written to Microsoft Outlook tue to
error 80180F04. The item will be skipped.

Recurring Event
George's Birthday

Can anyone tell me how to delete these 3 notifications or how to reset or
delete the database on the IPAQ where they may be contained?
