synching up folder views

Thanks to the patch I downloaded last week, my folder view settings seem
to be holding. Is there, though, any way to now preserve the folder
view settings in *_ALL_* the various browse windows (e.g, "Open"
commands in various programs, "attach a file" in emails, etc.)? Keeping
my fingers crossed... Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Good luck. Mine stick for a while, then still change back on their own
- even with all those supposed fixes applied. Or, I'll go into a
folder filled with only images and Vista changes them back once more
to it's favorite choices for photos (e.g. rating and tags - WGAF about
those idiotic flags?). It also varies depending on whether it's a
network/shared or local drive. Too bad MS doesn't want to actually fix
this major Vista issue.

As for the file open boxes and such, I've had fairly good luck by
setting the details as I want them, they holding the shift key and
clicking the "X" to close the window. They seem to stick for a fair
while when you do that.

One more thing, I can't find the "X" to close the window. Where is that
damn "X"?

Sometimes I've had good luck with File - Control-click on Exit (but I
haven't had enough Vista experience yet to be sure if it really works
here).
