Synchronization between 2 PCs

Network is a Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange 2003.

Office workstation has Outlook 2003 SP1 using ActiveSync 3.8 to synchronize
Pocket PC 2002.

Home PC has Outlook 2003 configured using RPC over HTTP also using
ActiveSync 3.8.

User needs to synchronzie Outlook with PPC between his office PC and home
PC. Synchronization went fine at office PC. When user configured ActiveSync
at home to sync with PPC, the PPC detected new items in his Calendar, Tasks
and Contacts eventhough no new items were added since the office
synchronization. Seems as though the PPC did not recognize the Outlook items
on the home PC as being the same items as the office PC.

Question is, is this by design, that the PPC will recognize the data in
Outlook to be different between the office PC and home PC eventhough the
data is the same.

How can the user synchronize between the 2 PCs in the above mentioned
configuration?

Since you are using Exchange 2003, you could consider using Server
ActiveSync, which would mean that Calendar, Contacts, and Inbox would sync
directly with the server.

As to the problem of not recognizing them as being the same, you can try
deleting the information on the home PC, then delete the partnership (VERY
IMPORTANT!) by going to File -> Delete Partnership, then cradle the device
and set up a new partnership - the data will be brought over to the Home PC
and should remain in sync from that point onward.

Rob,

The user's home PC is running Outlook 2003 using RPC over HTTP, meaning the
Outlook data is automatically synchronized with the Exchange server. User
cannot delete the data on the home PC without affecting the users mailbox on
the server. Sorry if I was not clear on this.

Also the user has a Dell Axim, so no wireless carrier for this PDA.

Try deleting the partnership anyways, but don't delete the information in
Outlook - but perform everything else.

Also, you don't need to be using wireless to perform Server ActiveSync -
Server ActiveSync will take place from the cradle as well.
