Synchronizing with Exchange 2003 server

I'm trying to get my PPC 2003 unit to synchronize with our Exchange server
with the PPC unit in the cradle which is connected to a computer on the
network. Whenever I attempt to syncronize with the server I get the
following message:

Synchronization failed due to a communications failure. Try again.
Error code: INTERNET_31

I have tried disabling the certificate check, and manually connecting to the
server via the browser but with no luck. Even if I manually type the server
address in a browser, the logon page cannot be found. On regular PC's, if
I attempt to access webmail via https://webaccessserver.com/oma, it will ask
for a username and password so I know mobile access on Exchange is working.
Any ideas

Can you browse any web page (e.g. www.msn.com) from your device? You might
need to set up proxy on device.

I resolved the Internet_55 issue by putting in just my email username
instead of DomainName\Username. However, I then received an error
Internet_31. To resolve this error I needed to make sure that under the
iPaq's PPC2003 Network Management Settings, the "Programs that automatically
connect to the Internet" and "Programs that automatically connect to a
private network" are both set to use either "My ISP" or My Work Network" and
under Configure Network Adapters tab, I needed to make sure under "My
network card connects to:" I selected "The Internet." I can now
synchronize to the Exchange server when it is not in the cradle. However,
when I attempt to synchronize the tasks and notes when the unit is in the
cradle, I get the message "Connecting to Microsoft Exchange Server, then I
receive the error "Your Exchange Server is unavailable." Any ideas?
