Syncing mpeg files to Pocket PC

How can I use ActiveSync to convert mpeg files to a format (WMA or MP3) that
can play on Pocket PC WMP9?

There doesn't seem to be a way to do this?

Must on use third-party conversion of mpeg files to wma or mp3 format and
then use ActiveSync to just move the newly formatted files over?
